The 1970s quartz crisis was a catalyst for watch brands to become more creative. Each watch house stepped into the unknown but the one that made the biggest hit against the crisis was Cartier. Must De Cartier was created in 1973 to create a more affordable line of watches. The timepieces were aimed at younger generations who couldn’t necessarily afford high end brands but still wanted to buy into the them. Fun dials, straps and quirky designs were the front foot of the factories agenda and soon enough, Cartier’s annual sales rose from 3000 to 160,000 by the end of the 70s! These little time tellers have become a staple in collectible watches and boy I love them!
This particular model has a quartz movement which is housed in a 24mm case with its original buckle.
